The Double-Breasted Blazer is no longer the fashionable choice to wear to an interview or a business function. The double-breasted blazer is, however, a highly flattering option to wear to a formal or business event. It is an iconic look, and one that has remained popular with the fashion world for years.
While there are lot of double-breasted blazer styling options, the look is still one of the most versatile around. It can be styled with a suit jacket, shirt and tie or any other combination.
Double-Breasted Blazer Styling Tips
This post has been a long time coming and, I apologize for the wait. As a result of the popular demand for this post, I have created a separate post that covers how to style the double-breasted blazer without having to read this entire post. It covers everything you need to know about double-breasted blazer styling to hit the job interview in style. I also recommend watching my double-breasted blazer styling video that covers the details of the look and how to style it.
Double-Breasted Blazer Styles
As I stated above, the double-breasted blazer is a highly versatile piece of clothing and there are many ways to style it. The number of combinations is almost limitless.
The single-breasted blazer is also a versatile option, but in a different way. It is a little more constrained because it is meant to be worn one shoulder at a time. In most cases, the double-breasted blazer has a single opening at the bottom, allowing you to wear it without a tie.
In the example below, I am wearing a double breasted blazer with a shirt, shirt and tie combo. I have the double-breasted blazer unbuttoned and I am wearing a pair of black pants with black dress shoes. The result is a look that is classic and very professional.
This is an option that is often overlooked. It is not a bad option because it is just as good as any of the other options, but in my opinion, it does not have the same sex appeal as the other options.
If you choose to wear the double-breasted blazer without a tie, then you can choose from the three different styles of the double-breasted blazer below.
- The classic double-breasted blazer
- A single-breasted double-breasted blazer
- A half-buttoned double-breasted blazer
- Double-Breasted Blazer Sizing
While you can wear any size double-breasted blazer, you do not have to. This is very personal, and there are different opinions on sizing. Personally, I always think that when you are wearing a double-breasted blazer, it is best to wear a medium size.
If you feel comfortable in a larger size, then you should not have any problems wearing a double-breasted blazer. If you wear a smaller size, you will most likely have to either shorten the sleeves or remove them to fit the blazer. This will mean that you will have to adjust the length of the blazer as well. My advice is to go with a size that is about a size larger than you usually wear. This will give you a more relaxed fit and allow you to wear it without having to make any adjustments.
